Message from Mr. Mercado, School Counselor

  • Welcome back to Seaton. I hope you all enjoyed your winter break and the holiday season. I am sharing this message to tell you about some of the great things going on at Seaton and to hopefully get you and your child excited about what’s to come this term.
  • Regarding attendance, this year the attendance committee has been working hard to put events together to celebrate our students who are coming to school every day! During December, the attendance committee hosted a perfect attendance ceremony for our students who had perfect attendance since the first day of school! This month our committee is having a schoolwide competition for the class with the best attendance! The winning class will attend the “I love school Valentine’s Day Party”. Please support your students by making sure they attend school every day in January and February.
  • Please ensure your child is in school by 8:40am. Being here on time is extremely important! If they are late, please make sure they sign into the Tardy binder so that they aren’t marked as absent.
  • Feel free to contact me, Mr. Mercado (abel.mercado@k12.dc.gov, bilingual counselor and attendance point of contact) if you have any questions or concerns about attendance, counseling, or school mental health.

Middle School Fair @ Seaton

  • Mr. Mercado will be hosting a middle school fair for 4th and 5th grade students at Seaton. The Middle School Fair will be on February 2nd at 4:30pm. Please join us as we hear from different middle schools and educational campuses! This event can help you and your students learn more about their options for their next step and the My School DC Application! This event will be hosted in the Seaton Cafeteria.
