Dear Stinger Families,
On behalf of the PTO, I am delighted to welcome you to another exciting school year at Seaton Elementary School! For those that are new to our school–we can’t wait to meet you. To our returning families, we can’t wait to see you again. We have been working hard this summer, making sure our students have everything they need to succeed…and have fun this school year!
A little bit about the PTO: As a parent/guardian of a child at Seaton, you are automatically a member of the PTO. We are a link between parents, teachers, and staff and work diligently throughout the year to organize events, fundraisers, and other initiatives that benefit our school community. We fund things like the school garden, food drives, Spring Festival, Multicultural Day, and Teacher Appreciation week. The Seaton PTO has accomplished a lot since its start in 2015 and we have so many ideas about how we can bring value to our Seaton community. As we move forward, we are excited to keep the momentum going…but can’t do it alone. We would love it if you could show your support by attending our meetings and participating in our events and activities throughout the year. Your participation might be that of a committee member, event volunteer, or just as an attendee. Whatever level of participation you decide works best for you, works best for us. And it will make a big difference!
So How Can You Help?
- Join a committee: We are all busy parents trying to give our kids the best educational and social experience possible. The more help we have–the more we can do! Email president.seatonpto@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more.
- Donate: Our goal this year is $40,000. Whether it’s a one-time donation during our Giving Tuesday Drive or a monthly recurring contribution, every dollar counts. Donations can be made easily here.
- Volunteer: If you have time to spare, we’d love your help! Email president.seatonpto@gmail.com if you want to be added to our list of volunteers.
- Stinger Pride: Show your school spirit! Check out our Stinger Swag Store here and get some cool merchandise for you and your family. We will also be selling our traditional “bee shirts” at our upcoming events which are always a welcomed break from those crisp white uniform shirts. We will have adult shirts for sale this year as well!
- Attend our Events: There are so many opportunities throughout the year to connect with other families! PTO meetings, restaurant nights, movie nights and more. We have a few exciting events happening over the next few weeks so be sure to check our calendar to stay up to date.
- Send your child in uniform: By following the uniform policy, we can maintain an atmosphere that benefits everyone. We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that your child is dressed according to the school’s guidelines each day:
*Tops: white button down collared shirt, polo shirt with collar, or Seaton logo t-shirt
*Bottoms: navy pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, or jumpers
*Footwear: any closed-toe shoes. No open-toed sandals or flip flops
If your family cannot afford or have difficulty obtaining uniforms or appropriate footwear, please see Ms. Daisy in the admin office who may be able to provide one (or more) free of charge.
- Follow us on Facebook, Instagram (seatonpto), and Twitter (seatondc)
Once again–welcome to Seaton! We look forward to getting to know you and we hope to see you at our first PTO meeting on Wednesday, September 11th at 5:30pm! We will meet in the Seaton library on the first floor and we will have pizza, childcare, and Spanish translation.
Thank you for being an important part of the Seaton hive,
Zandria Haines
President, Seaton Elementary PTO
