A Message from the Attendance Team
Seaton Families! This month is attendance awareness month, and the Seaton Attendance Committee is busy planning events for our students, staff, and families! Early this month they hosted a teacher workshop to review attendance policies and procedures. Later this week, Mr. Mercado (School Counselor/attendance POC) will be speaking at this month’s PTO meeting to inform them about the new “60/40” attendance policy and review current policies. If you aren’t able to attend the PTO meeting, Mr. Mercado will also be presenting at Back to School Night. Make sure you stop by! For our students, the attendance committee will be having a spirit week at the end of the month to commemorate Attendance Awareness Month! Here are the themed days:
  • Monday September 23rd, 2024 – College Wear Day
  • Tuesday September 24th, 2024– Bright Colors Day
  • Wednesday September 25th, 2024– Beach Day
  • Thursday September 26th, 2024 – Jersey Day
  • Friday September 27th, 2024– School Spirit Day
The Attendance Team are also hosting a class competition to promote attendance between all classes. Students must be with a caregiver to attend. For questions, reach out to Ms. Coyne, PK4 teacher and garden committee lead.
September Safety Drills
Fire Drill. This drill takes place school wide. All students and staff evacuate the building to their secure location and return following the end of the fire drill.
Lockdown Drill. Our school will be conducting a Lockdown Drill on Wednesday September 11 from 10am to 10:15am. This routine exercise takes place twice a year to practice safeguarding our school community from potential dangers within or outside of our building. During a lockdown drill, students are moved to the safest area of the room, away from doors and windows. The window shades are drawn, classroom door windows are covered, and the lights are turned off. While the drill is underway, all exterior doors are locked, and entering or exiting the building is not permitted until the all-clear is given. We ask that families refrain from coming to the school during this time, as you will not be allowed to enter the building until the drill is complete.
Medications and Allergies
If your child needs to take medication or requires medical treatment during school hours, please have your medical provider complete the appropriate forms – there’s the Medication and Treatment Authorization Forms, the Asthma Action Plan and the Action Plan for Anaphylaxis. Please email forms to seatonesenroll@k12.dc.gov  and ask them to be submitted to the nurse.
If your child needs a dietary accommodation, your provider should also complete the Dietary Accommodations Form. Please submit the completed form to dietary.forms@k12.dc.gov and cc seatonesenroll@k12.dc.gov
