On Tuesday, March 8, Seaton Elementary School celebrated International Women’s Day, a global holiday that commemorates and celebrates the political, cultural, and economic advancement of women.
The PTO has worked with Seaton parents to organize various events including: displays that will feature prominent women in history who have made significant advancements in science, art, journalism, music, and the legal field; videos of successful women in the D.C. metro area, including Seaton’s former principal Kim Jackson, to show to each classroom as an introduction to International Women’s Day; a special video call from Dr. Mamie Parker to wish the students “Happy International Women’s Day!”; and a distribution of flowers for the children to take home to give to a significant woman in their life.
We want to give a special thank you to the women listed below for participating in Seaton Elementary School’s International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month celebration! We are all inspired by your commitment and dedication to your communities!
