Seaton Families,

In February, DCPS shared initial budget allocations for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) with principals. These funds will support our school in the 2025-2026 school year. All schools’ initial allocations, including Seaton’s, can be viewed at https://dcpsbudget.com/

Our school budget allocation for SY25-26, based on a projected enrollment of 415 students, is $9.5 million. As a growing school, we anticipate an increase of 25 students in enrollment for next school year! Additionally, we received extra funding to support our at-risk and multilingual students. Overall, our budget has increased by $900,000 compared to the current school year.

The Seaton LSAT team played a key role in developing a comprehensive school budget for SY25-26. As part of this process, we reviewed academic data and gathered stakeholder feedback, including insights from listening sessions and the school priorities survey. Below are the schoolwide highlights and changes for next school year.

.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Maintaining three kindergarten classrooms and three first-grade classrooms.
  • We are adding one additional second-grade and one additional third-grade classroom, bringing the total to three second-grade classrooms and three third-grade classrooms.
  • We are adding an Interventionist to support students furthest from grade-level performance.
  • We are adding one Special Education teacher.
  • We are hiring a part-time Multilingual Teacher leader.
  • We are hiring a full-time Business Manager.
  • We are adding one building substitute.

.

CHANGES

  • The family communication application will be paid for out of our school funds.
  • Student tutoring will be paid for out of our school funds.
  • School instructional and intervention materials will be paid for out of school funds.

.

Overall, we have prioritized using our budget increases to support students by maintaining smaller class sizes and academic support. Seaton has kept administrative expenses low to meet our school community’s growing needs. We hope this provides transparency regarding our budget process and decisions.

I appreciate your partnership and support as we transition into the next school year and look forward to welcoming all Stingers families back for SY25-26!
