October 31 (Halloween Day)

October 31 is an exciting day for students! We encouraged students to dress like their favorite Book Character for the day. Please ensure that costumes are school-appropriate (nothing scary or violent).

PK3 and PK4 Parade. ECE will be hosting a Costume Parade starting from 9:15AM around the school (blocks around school). Parents are welcome to walk with their students. Parents can bring a change of clothes for students following the parade. Students will have a normal school day following the parade.

.

November School Safety Drills

We will have two drills during November. The two drill months are: Fire Drill and Alert Drill.

Alert Drill: In a DCPS Alert drill, students and staff practice securing the building during a community emergency. It is a specific emergency protocol used when there is a potential threat outside the school, rather than a lockdown, which is for an interior threat.

Modernization Update

Thank you so much for your engagement in the Seaton Modernization process. I truly appreciated hearing your feedback, comments, and questions about the three design options for the future Seaton building.

The School Improvement Team (SIT) met with the Design-Build Team to share the feedback we received from families about each option. We also lifted up your comments about the building and the outdoor spaces that make our community so special (our garden, playgrounds, and soccer field).

The next step in the process will be to engage the community around the Schematic Design (floor plans and interior spaces) of the building. This stage is expected to take place in early 2026.

Attendance Matters!

Consistent on-time arrival and staying until the end of the school day are essential to your child’s success. When students arrive late or leave early, they miss valuable instruction, disrupt their learning routine, and lose opportunities to build important connections. Every minute counts—morning routines set the tone for the day, and afternoon lessons often include key reviews or preparation for the next day’s learning.  As a friendly reminder, the Seaton school day runs from 8:45 am – 3:15pm.

We understand that occasional appointments or emergencies happen, but please make every effort to have your child at school on time each day and remain until dismissal. Together, we can help every student build strong habits, confidence, and a love for learning!

Attendance Committee Updates

The Aspen Parent Portal to submit absence/tardy excuse notes is now live on the Seaton Website (Click attendance form on the Seaton website).

Please note that this is the same form used for late arrivals and that no documents can be uploaded onto the portal at this time. Physical notes can still be dropped off at the front office. Please reach out to Mr. Mercado if you have any questions at (abel.mercado@k12.dc.gov)

Upcoming events

We have a lot of great acts for our upcoming Talent Showcase, which will be held in the multi-purpose room on Wednesday, November 12 from 5:30-7:30. Even if your Stinger isn’t participating, you’re welcome to join for the show – it’s always a fun time and our performers would love support from their classmates.

The Winter Dance for 2nd-5th graders will be held on Friday, December 12 from 7-9 PM. We know holiday schedules get filled up early, so please make sure to save the date! We’ll have hot cocoa, desserts, dancing, and a photobooth, and Stingers are encouraged to dress up for the occasion. All students must be accompanied by a responsible adult (though it’s fine for one adult to be responsible for multiple students.)

For both events, we are looking for volunteers. Please sign up here!
