Seaton Modernization Kickoff! 
Exciting news—Seaton’s modernization process officially begins tomorrow with a virtual kickoff meeting! This is an important step in shaping the future of our school, and we encourage families to stay informed and engaged throughout the process. Thank You for Attending Parent-Teacher Conferences! 
We appreciate all families for taking the time to connect with teachers ahead of or during Parent-Teacher Conference Day. Your involvement and partnership are essential in supporting student academic growth and helping them meet their learning goals. 

A Huge Thank You to Our Math Night Team! 
A special shout-out to the Math Night Committee, Ms. Hawthorne, and the PTO Team for organizing an engaging and exciting event for our students and families! With over 130 families in attendance, it was a fantastic evening of learning and fun. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success—we appreciate your dedication to fostering a love of math in our students!

Seaton Modernization Kick Off Community Meeting  

The Seaton modernization virtual kick off community meeting will take place on March 18 at 5:00pm. Join the DCPS representatives to learn more about the upcoming modernization project for our school. Physical Education News  

PE Open House. You’re invited to join your student for an upcoming PE class! Parents will have the opportunity to participate in a PE class alongside their student during our PE Open House, taking place from April 8 to April 11. To sign up, please complete the following form: PE Open House Sign Up Form. Once signed up, the PE team will follow up with you to confirm the date and time for your participation. We look forward to seeing you in class! 

Grade 2 Learn to Bike Unit. Parents of Grade 2 students are invited to sign up as volunteers for Biking Lessons! Students will participate in six biking lessons throughout April, culminating in a Community Bike Ride! To sign up, please complete the form: Bike Volunteer Sign-Up Form

Attendance Celebration  

The Seaton Attendance committee will lead two attendance celebration events during March and April. See details below for each attendance celebration:   

March Madness. Students with perfect attendance from March 3rd to March 28th (NO ABSENCES) will be highlighted on ” MVP” bulletin board out front and they will also receive a “Jersey Pops” on March 31st, 2025. 

Hoping Into Perfect Attendance in April. During the month of April, the attendance committee will be hosting a Class competition. The class with the best attendance will be invited to the “Hoping into Perfect Attendance” Spring Celebration! This event will take place on the 30th of April at 2:15pm.

Family Garden Times 

  • Monday Open Garden Time resumes on March 24 from 3:30 to 4:30PM. Open Garten time will happen every Monday through June 9.  
  • Thursday Community Work Times are planned for the following dates from 3:30 to 5:00PM. April 10, May 1, May 15, and June 5.

School Safety Drills.   

March Fire Drill. This drill takes place school wide. All students and staff evacuate the building to their secure location and return following the end of the fire drill.  

March Evacuation Drill. This drill takes place school wide. All students and staff evacuate the building to our evacuation site, Shiloh Baptist Church. All students return to Seaton once the evacuation drill is completed.

Complete the Volunteer Clearance Process. 

Please note, all parents/guardians that would like to chaperone field trips, must complete the DCPS Clearance process before chaperoning a field trip. Once you have completed the clearance process, please share your approved clearance letter with Ms. Daisy (gloria.torrento@k12.dc.gov) or Ms. Hill (alicia.hill@k12.dc.gov), in the main office.

Spring Auction 

Our 2nd annual spring auction will be held April 7-May 1st. We have an exciting lineup of auction items so far— but still could use a few more! If you are willing to reach out to your favorite businesses in the city (and afar) and ask them if they are willing to donate, that would be a big help to our auction committee team! Please connect any donors to the PTO by emailing president.seatonpto@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more details–including a happy hour celebration at Dacha on May 1st.

PTO Executive Board Elections 

We are looking for volunteers to serve on the PTO Executive Board next year. Officer positions up for election are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, At-Large Director for PK-2nd grade, and At-Large Director for 3rd-5th grade. Serving on the board is rewarding in many ways! You will learn so much about our school and our community—and have fun while doing it! 

PTO Executive Board elections will be held Wednesday, April 9th during our April general body meeting. If you would like to run for office or interested in learning more—please email governance.seatonpto@gmail.com. You must express interest by April 1, 2025 in order to be listed on the ballot.  

Our next PTO monthly general body meeting is Wednesday, April 9, from 5:30-6:30 PM. Meetings are held in the library, and pizza and childcare are provided. If you plan to bring any little Stingers please drop them off in the multipurpose room for childcare. We hope to see you there!
