Inclusion Spirit Week

World Autism Acceptance Week runs from March 30 to April 6, centering around World Autism Acceptance Day on April 2nd.

Seaton’s Inclusion Week, this year called 🧠BRAIN Week✨ to emphasize neurodiversity, will take place March 30- April 3.

We are so lucky to be around so many beautiful minds at Seaton. During this week, our community will reflect on the amazing work we do here to make Seaton an accepting and welcoming place for all learners. Look out for the sharing of spirit week flyers, daily class lessons, and other resources within the upcoming weeks.

.

Black History and Culture Committee Update

Each student will be bringing home two Black History Month activity books and a set of coloring materials, made possible through a generous contribution from Bridge the Gap and Seaton’s Parent Teacher Organization. These resources are a gift to our students so they can continue exploring the rich contributions, creativity, and influence of Black Americans beyond the classroom.

We encourage you to take time with your child to read, color, and discuss the stories and activities inside. The books highlight important figures, moments, and innovations that have shaped our country, and your engagement helps deepen their understanding of why these histories matter. Thank you for supporting our students as they learn, reflect, and celebrate.

Seaton Families,

Big news – PTO elections are coming up! Each year, we nominate and elect a new PTO board. The PTO board consists of the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and grade-level reps for PK3-1st and 2nd-5th grades. A description of the open positions is below, and you can use this Nomination Form to submit nominations. You can nominate yourself!

Elected positions aren’t the only way to get involved with the PTO. We also have committees that handle everything from events, to afterschool clubs, to teacher appreciation. The nomination form also includes a list of these committees that do amazing work for Seaton students and families all year long. Committees won’t be finalized until the new school year, but please indicate your interest in participating (and even leading!) in one or more of these meaningful community-building enriching opportunities.

All nominees will be notified of their nomination(s). In accordance with the bylaws, candidates nominated for an Executive Board position must accept the nomination at least 48 hours prior to the election to appear on the ballot. The election will take place on April 8th at the next PTO general body meeting. Voting is only available in person, so please plan to attend the meeting, or arrange to drop your ballot off on April 8!

  • President. The president shall preside over all meetings of the organization to include general PTO meetings and executive board meetings. The president shall be the chair of the executive board, serve as the primary contact for the principal and faculty, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization, coordinate the work of all officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.
  • Vice President. The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence.
  • Secretary. The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, work with the president to prepare meeting agendas, handle correspondence, and send meeting notices as required. The secretary also keeps a copy of the organization’s minutes, bylaws, rules, volunteer list, and any other necessary information, and brings them to all meetings.
  • Treasurer. The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures and pay out funds in accordance with the approved budget. They will present a financial statement at every executive board and general PTO meeting and will make a final report at the end of the year. They will also ensure that all required federal and District filings (i.e., 990) are filed in a timely manner each year.
  • At-Large Directors. The Board shall include two at-large director positions. To the extent feasible, one at-large director shall be a parent or guardian from the lower grades (Pre-K3-2nd grade) and one at-large director shall be from the higher grades (3rd-5th grades).
