Seaton Families – Welcome to June! As we approach the end of the school year, students and staff are celebrating academic growth and gearing up for exciting events and opportunities to come together as a community!
I would like to highlight a few exciting updates from our school community:
- Our DC Scores team was recognized for its Service Learning Project supporting youth in foster care. Thank you to all of our families for their generous donations, which helped make this project possible!
- Our Grade 4 students recently presented at the Children’s Museum STEAM Expo. A huge shoutout to our students, families, and teachers for supporting and guiding students through this incredible project.
- Students also participated in the Battle of the Books competition and the Math Masters competition. Be sure to check out their photos and awards on Seaton’s Instagram page (@SeatonDC).
We look forward to celebrating with you during next week’s Awards Celebrations and seeing you at Multicultural Day this Friday!

PTO News and Updates
Seaton Families,
The end of year is such a busy time, but it’s an extra-special June this year, as we say goodbye to Seaton until we return to our modernized building in August 2028. It’s hard to believe it’s finally happening! But we are going out with bang, with a lot of chances to celebrate our community between now and the end of school.
But first – we are looking for your feedback on what we can do to better serve you next year. Please fill out our survey for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Target.
Parents at Seaton are also working with Schools Beyond Screens DC to discuss the use of technology in schools in DC. Please fill out their survey to express your views.
Meet-Up for Rising Francis MS Students – Wednesday, June 3, 6-8 PM: Garrison is hosting a meet-up for 5th graders entering Francis MS next year. Please RSVP so they can make sure there’s plenty of pizza to go around. More details at the link!
Multicultural Day – Friday, June 5, 3:30 PM: The PTO is always proud to sponsor Multicultural Day, one of the very best days at Seaton every year. Ms. Duarte has shared a list of the countries represented here: Multicultural Day 2026.docx . Parents are welcome to bring a dish or drinks to share, no need to sign up in advance! Also reminder – there is NO aftercare on Friday!
Last PTO Meeting of the Year – June 10, 5:30 PM: In addition to our normal updates, we’ll present and vote on a budget for the next school year. We will also continue our discussion of tech usage from last month’s meeting. Pizza and child care provided!
Field Day – Friday, June 12: Field Day is a newer Seaton tradition that brings so much joy, and we’re excited to do it one last time on our amazing playground and field. And we are still looking for volunteers! There are two separate shifts: 8:45-11 AM for PK4-1st grade, and 12:45 – 3 PM for 2nd-5th grades. You can sign up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14bVyoGr5MPlngKkDAwG_jLNXlTr84owt/edit?gid=1146092240#gid=1146092240.
All PTO-Sponsored Afterschool Clubs End Next Week: You can see the last date information here: https://seatondc.org/afterschool-enrichment/. Thanks for your enthusiasm and support for this year’s set of clubs, and a MASSIVE thanks to our afterschool clubs committee, led by Vanessa Sacks, for all they do to make clubs possible.
Finally, as we end the year, we are actively seeking parents to join committees for the upcoming school year. Joining a PTO committee is a great way to engage with the school community, meet other parents, and look cool to your kids. Our committees are: afterschool enrichment, teacher appreciation, events, communications, fundraising, governance, family relations, yearbook/tshirts. We are particularly in need of help with communications (i.e. updating our instagram, sending emails), a yearbook coordinator (we have two teachers interested, we just need a parent to help too), a fundraising chair (with lots of support from me and others!) and people who may want to take the lead on a specific favorite event for the events committee. We are also engaging in a renaming process for Seaton and standing up a committee to seek community input on whether that should happen, proposing new names, and getting feedback. If you are interested in any of these, let me know!
