CAPE Testing (Grades 3–5)
Each spring, students in Washington, DC take the Comprehensive Assessments of Progress in Education (CAPE). CAPE provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and the hard work they have put into learning throughout the year.
Testing Schedule:
- ELA: Tuesday, April 28 – Thursday, April 30
- Math: Tuesday, May 5 – Thursday, May 7
We encourage all students to feel confident and do their best. Healthy habits can support success—getting a full night’s sleep and eating a healthy breakfast are key. Breakfast is served daily at Seaton from 8:15–8:40 AM.
On testing days, we will maintain a quiet testing environment throughout the building, including indoor and outdoor spaces. As a result, students in PK–2 may have indoor recess if testing is in progress.

Spring Auction and Happy Hour! Our Spring Auction is going on now through Monday, April 27. This year, we’re lucky to have several priceless teacher donations, including VR gaming with Ms. Fizer, a trip to the Zoo with Ms. Hawthorne, a garden ice cream party with Ms. Coyne and Ms. Freedman, and bunny playtime with Ms. Gupta. You can view the full catalogue here, and we continue to add new items, so check back frequently! And please join us for our Spring Auction Happy Hour at Dog Daze on Monday, April 27 from
5-8 PM. We’ll have a free raffle for a $50 gift card to Dog Daze and 2 tickets to a Nationals game from Councilmember Pinto’s office, so even if you don’t win anything in the auction, you can still be a winner!
Spring Carnival! Make sure to save the date for Spring Carnival, our biggest event of the year and our last major event in our building before we leave for modernization! Spring Carnival is on Friday, May 15 from 5:30-7:30 PM. There will be food, face painting, carnival games, Wow Wheelz, and more! Please sign up for a short volunteer shift to help make the event happen – it’s a great way to help out with the PTO for a small time commitment, and your kids will think you’re a hero when you’re running a carnival game or manning the grill.Free Washington Nationals game on May 31st! Free tickets are available to join the Seaton PTO at the Nationals game at 1:35 pm on Sunday, May 31st. In order to be considered for tickets, please fill out this form by May 22, 2026. Tickets are for current students and families enrolled at Seaton. We have a limited number of tickets available, so they will be distributed first come, first-served in the order that we receive this form, with a max of 5 tickets per family. Tickets are sent electronically so you need to have the free MLB Ballpark app downloaded on your phone in order to access.
LSAT Elections! Do you want to get involved in decisions around school budgeting and priorities? Run for a spot on Seaton’s LSAT! Any parent or guardian of a current Seaton student is eligible to serve on the LSAT. The LSAT plays a key
role in shaping school priorities and decisions, and it requires only a one hour meeting per month, with a little more around budgeting time. We encourage nominations from all members of our diverse Seaton community. Nominate yourself or somebody else here. LSAT elections will be held May 4-8.
Yearbooks! Yearbook orders are due by May 6. You can place your order here.
