Giving Tuesday. Here’s what we could include up higher: Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The PTO has an ambitious goal of $15,000, to help fund sustainable afterschool options, field trips for every grade, new events like the Winter Dance and Family Math Night, and more. Please consider making a donation of any amount here. More information on Giving Tuesday is below!
Cafecito Con La Directora. Join us for Cafecito Con La Directora this Friday December 6 at 8:15-9:00am in front of the school.
Children’s National Hospital “A Family Affair” Event (12/7). We are excited to share that Children’s National Hospital will be hosting a free health event on Saturday, December 7, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at THEARC West Building (1801 Mississippi Ave, SE, Washington, DC 20020). The event will include:
- Pediatric immunizations
- Adult screenings
- Health education
- Dental screenings
- Well child appointments
School Pictures. This year, Freed Photography is unable to provide a website or code for ordering student photos, as they have done in the past, due to student privacy considerations. To ensure the confidentiality of student photos, we will share parent contact information directly with Freed Photography so they can reach out to families regarding photo orders. If you do not authorize Seaton to share your contact information with Freed Photography, please email Ms. Hill at alicia.hill@k12.dc.gov or Principal Torres at veronica.torres@k12.dc.gov by Wednesday, December 4. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns.

Open House Dates. Seaton will be hosting Open House for new to Seaton families on the following dates!
- January 15, 2025 from 9AM to 10AM.
- February 4, 2025 from 5PM to 6PM.
- February 26, 2025 from 5PM to 6PM.
Book Fair. Save the Date! The Seaton Book Fair will take place from December 6 through December 13, 2024.
SORA Application. Does your student have a tablet, phone, or computer? They have access to thousands of books using the DCPS eBook reading app – SORA! This is an easy way for your student to have access to thousands of popular books. If you need help installing the app, you can feel free to contact Ms. Janka or Ms. Daisy.
DCPS Calendar Key Dates. December 23 to January 1. No School for Students. Winter Break. Students return to school Thursday January 2.
After School. There will be No After School Programming on Friday December 20 – the Friday before Winter Break. All students will be dismissed at 3:15PM.
PTO Updates
December is going to be a busy month for our Stingers. Read on for more information on Giving Tuesday, the Book Fair, the Winter Dance and more!
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year we raised $10,000, which helped us to fund brand-new afterschool options, dedicated field trip funds for each class, and new events like our upcoming Winter Dance. This year, our goal is $15,000. The PTO has so many ambitious goals and we can’t do any of it without your support. Please consider making a donation of any amount here. And if supporting our amazing school isn’t enough, every donor will be entered into a raffle to win two tickets to a sparkling wine tasting at Maxwell Park (Dec. 15 at 11:30 AM) or a $50 gift certificate to Republic Cantina. Please also share our Giving Tuesday fundraiser with grandparents, family members, friends, neighbors, or anyone in your network who may want to contribute to a great cause this holiday season. To help you, we’ve prepared this fundraising toolkit you can use. As always, thank you for supporting our mission, our brilliant students, and our incredible teachers and staff.
Upcoming Events. The PTO Events Committee has been busy putting together a fun slate of upcoming events. We need volunteers to make these events a success! Please sign up here for a shift – our volunteers report that helping out is a great way to connect with other families, teachers, and classmates while also supporting a great cause.
- Seaton will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in early December, so we hope you’re ready to stock up on gifts and your kids are ready to read! Plan to come by during drop-off (8:15am – 8:45am) and pick-up (3:30pm – 6pm) each day!
- Now that it is officially winter, we’re excited to announce a new event this year for our older students: the Winter Wonderland Dance! All students in 2nd-5th grades are invited on Friday December 13th from 7pm – 9pm for a special winter-themed evening of music, dancing, games, and a photo booth! Please note: all students must have a responsible adult present, and we will have beverages and light snacks, but please make sure your kids eat dinner first. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed to impress and dancing the night away!
- Our popular Science Fair returns on January 31. More details to come!
- Upcoming PTO meetings: December 11 and January 8, from 5:30-6:30 in the school library. Pizza and childcare will be provided!
