DC Public Library wants to make reading with your child fun and easy for parents and guardians in the district. That’s why the library is launching Books from Birth, a program that mails all kids in D.C. a free book each month from birth until they turn 5. This is an opt-in program. Parents must register for this program in order to receive free books for their child.

A few important facts about the program:

  • You must be a parent or legal guardian to sign a child up for Books from Birth.
  • You must live in Washington, D.C., to be eligible for Books from Birth.
  • Your child must be under the age of 5 to be eligible for free books through this program.
