Fall 2024 Afterschool Enrichment

The Seaton PTO, in partnership with Seaton teachers and our afterschool enrichment partners, is proud to announce our Fall slate of afterschool enrichment opportunities for Seaton students.

Below, you can find information about each club, along with details on how to sign up. We are offering several different kinds of opportunities, including both teacher-led clubs and clubs managed by outside vendors. Please note that, unless otherwise specified below, afterschool enrichment for the Fall session is only open to students enrolled in Seaton’s afterschool program.

If you have any questions about the PTO’s afterschool opportunities, please reach out to seatonPTOenrichment@googlegroups.com. For questions about specific teacher-led clubs, please reach out directly to the teacher listed below.

MATH:

[Update: Math Club is full for the Fall session. Ms. Hawthorne, Ms. Dunlap, and Ms. Miller will reach out to families who have expressed interest with updates.]

Join the Seaton Math Afterschool Club! 

New this school year is the Seaton Math Club, run by Ms. Dunlap, Ms. Hawthorne and Ms. Miller. It’s open to all students Kindergarten to 5th grade.  

When:

For K-2nd graders: Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30pm, with Ms. Hawthorne 

For 3-5th grades: Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30pm, with Ms. Dunlap and Ms. Miller

Cost: Free, Suggested $50 PTO donation

CHESS:

Join the Seaton Chess Afterschool Club! 

New this school year is the Seaton Chess Club, run by Magnus Chess Academy. It’s open to all students Kindergarten to 5th grade. Each week students of all levels do a fun but challenging lesson with Magnus Chess Academy coaches, and practice games against other students in the class.  

When: Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30, October 2 – November 20

Cost: $210, and financial assistance is available.

If you need financial assistance, email info@chessacademy.com or call 703.574.2070 and tell them you are interested in a scholarship for the Seaton Elementary School Chess Club.

GIRLS ON THE RUN:

Join the Seaton Girls on the Run Afterschool Club! 

A fun program where girls get to practice social-emotional skills and teamwork, run by Ms. McCan. It’s open to all female-identifying students 3rd to 5th grade.  

When:

For 3rd-5th graders: Monday and Wednesday 3:30-5:00, September 16-November 24 

Cost: Sliding scale ($15-$200)

DANCE:

Join the Seaton Dance Afterschool Club! 

New this school year is the Seaton Dance Club, run by Mr. Clemente. It’s open to students 1st to 3rd grade.  

When:

For 1st-3rd graders: Thursdays from 3:45-4:45pm

Cost: Free, Suggested $50 PTO donation

YOGA:

[Update: Yoga will now run only on Tuesdays, for students in K-2nd grade. Limited space remains!]

Join the Seaton Yoga Afterschool Club! 

New this school year is the Seaton Yoga Club, run by Breathing Space DC. It’s open to all students Kindergarten to 2nd grade.  

When:

For K-2nd graders: Tuesdays from 3:45-4:30, October 1-December 12

Cost: About $180, but final cost will depend on the number of students who sign up.

DC SCORES & Jr. SCORES:

Join the Seaton DC Scores and Jr Scores teams!

DC Scores and Jr. Scores is a city-wide soccer league that operates in schools across the district. Jr. Scores is focused on soccer practices and games, while DC Scores also adds in a poetry and community service element. More info is at www.dcscores.org

When: 

For 1st-2nd graders: Practice on Mondays and Tuesdays, games on Wednesdays

For 3rd-5th graders: Practice Mon-Wed, games on Thursdays

Cost: Free
