October is Growing Healthy School Month in DC! At Seaton, we have a busy schedule of health and wellness activities for students and families, including:
Family Garden Hour: Mondays Oct. 2, Oct. 16, Oct. 23, and Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM
Fall Garden Work Day: Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 AM to 1 PM. City Blossoms, our new garden partner organization, will helping us enhance our garden this year. This work day will kick off the transformation.
Walk to School Day: Wednesday, Oct. 4. For more info, click here
Morning Yoga: Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 8 to 8:30 AM. Join us for a free morning yoga class led by Juliana Bonilla from Bluebird Sky Yoga. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
The Wellness Committee, with the help of the PTO Fundraising Committee, will be fundraising for future health and wellness activities during Growing Healthy Schools Month.
- Farmraiser: From Oct. 2 to Oct. 12, we are selling pumpkins, mums, and apple cider! Items can be purchased in person in the Lobby before or after school, or online at https://farmraiser.com/campaigns/fall-harvest-sale/market. Items will be available for pick up at Seaton on Oct. 26.
- Spin Class at Off Road DC, Oct. 26 at 7:30 PM. This event is for adults only– sign up details coming soon! All proceeds will go to Seaton.
Throughout the Month:
We will be participating in the DC Recycle Right! Challenge, led by our fourth grade students.
Our new Food Corps volunteer, Zoe Quint, will be leading produce tastings in the cafeteria and assisting teachers with incorporating garden-based activities and cooking into their unit plans.
