Ms. Smith was awarded the 2017 Middle States Council Award of Honor!

The Middle States Council for the Social Studies, founded in 1903, is the oldest social studies professional organization in the nation and includes social studies educators from Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. On Friday, February 24th 2017, Althea Smith from Seaton Elementary School in the District of Columbia Public Schools was awarded the 2017 Middle States Council Award of Honor at the 114th Middle States Annual Conference in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The Award of Honor recognizes those who have served the Council as a member, committee head, or officer with dedication and who have given unstintingly of themselves to the furtherance of the Council’s objectives and goals.
