Today our second grade students participated on a nine-mile bike ride. This long distance trip is part of the DCPS Physical Education cornerstone. During this cornerstone students identify and define basic safety procedures and methods to safely ride a bicycle. Those skills include the ability to demonstrate a correct helmet fit, perform a standard bicycle check, knowledge of hand signals, and identify road signs and the proper clothing to wear. The students culminated their learning with this group bike ride.
