Seaton Elementary Parents & Friends,

Seaton Elementary School, located in the historic Shaw neighborhood of Washington, D.C., is committed to providing high-quality academic instruction and cultural experiences to enhance student development.

Some of the best and most dedicated teachers and staff in the D.C.Public School system serve a population of almost 300 students ranging from Pre-K 3 through 5th grade. Seaton has an impressive list of achievements and accolades, and continues to gain praise throughout the district.

Our dedicated and award-winning staff is led by D.C. Public Schools’ 2015 Principal of the Year, Kim Jackson. In 2016, Seaton Elementary improved their PARCC assessment scores by a notable 5.6% in English/Language Arts and 12.2% in Math. Seaton was also recently named one of the healthiest schools in America and awarded gold-level recognition by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

Over the last two years, the Seaton PTO has made it our goal to support the Seaton Elementary community and enhance educational opportunities for our students. With financial support from our community and input from Seaton teachers, staff, and parents we have:

• Organized numerous community-building opportunities such as Movie Nights, Coffee & Conversations, Annual Book Fair, Teacher Appreciation Events, etc.

• Purchased technology for the classrooms.

Our current 2016-17 goals are only possible with your help:

1) Increase technology in the classroom through the purchase of three Promethean Boards.

2) Support Seaton’s Healthy School Initiative through the purchase of new recess and physical education equipment.

3) Continue to provide community-building opportunities such as Movie Nights, Coffee & Conversations, Annual Book Fair, Teacher Appreciation Events, etc.

Your financial investment plays a key role in the success of Seaton Elementary School and its students. Unlike other fundraising opportunities, the “30 Days of Giving” Campaign is unique in that 100% of the funds raised stay at Seaton Elementary and directly impact teachers and students.

We are a diverse community, with a variety of abilities to support the school. We appreciate and accept all donations regardless of size. All contributions to Seaton Elementary School PTO are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. There will be other opportunities for the community to support Seaton throughout the school year, including our annual Book Fair, Family Movie Nights, and Teacher Appreciation events.
